CHAPTER QUARTETS
For many members of the Golden Chordsmen Chorus,
quarteting is what it's all about. As a member of a barbershop quartet, you have the
opportunity to sing for a wide variety of audiences, experience venues large and small,
and undertake an incredible musical voyage. Below is a list of our active quartets. Please
feel free to contact them for more information regarding their repertoire, fees and
availability for your event.
HARLEQUIN
Winnipeg's premier quartet, HARLEQUIN, has been entertaining audiences with
their warm, mellow chords since 1998. For an unprecedented 10th year in a row,
they were presented with the Golden Chordsmen's Quartet of the Year Award.
HARLEQUIN actively performs at banquets, dinners, fundraisers, sports events
and celebrations of all kinds. They enjoy singing a variety of musical styles,
including contemporary, patriotic, inspirational, doo-wop, and traditional Barbershop
tunes. Call Larry at 488-2242 or
email Larry for information.
Rob Smith (Tenor), Larry Hunter (Lead), Herold Driedger (Bass), Paul Bullock (Baritone)
TEMPO
FINALISTS IN THE 2009 MANITOBA SENIORS IDOL CONTEST! This quartet formed in the fall of 2005 to participate in the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen
Christmas Serenade. They enjoyed the sounds of their close harmony, so in January of
2006 registered as TEMPO with the Barbershop Harmony Society. They have been active in
the Winnipeg community, for example: performing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their
Blue and Gold Room, for the WGC’s Singing Valentines (a fund raiser in aid of the St. Amant
Center), on Hot 103.1 FM’s Ace Burpee Show, and for the St. Jospeh's Academy Nun's Residence.
They specialize in performing familiar Barbershop tunes at private venues like
anniversaries, weddings and birthday parties, etc. They would welcome the
opportunity to sing at your special occasion. Contact Gordon.
Gordon Sargent (Tenor), Jim Gilroy (Lead), Ted Mikliechuk (Bass),
Ron Latourelle (Baritone)
GENERATIONS OF SOUND
Registered in September 2008, this quartet is a powerful new addition to our chapter quartets.
Generations of Sound mixes the new and the not-so-new to ‘generate’ sweet and tender melodies
in classic Barbershop harmony. Specializing in old-time a cappella favorites, they have enjoyed
performing at a variety of local events including performances on Breakfast Television; at the
St. Norbert Farmer’s Market; and as a part of our annual Christmas Serenade. Singing at a private
function or special occasion is more than a performance for them - whether at a birthday or anniversary,
or as part of the Singing Valentine Program with the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen - they are delighted to
share in your happy memories! Generations of Sound looks forward to entertaining you!

NOTEWORTHY
Noteworthy is a newly formed quartet who has just made its debut on the "big performance stage".
Although this is a new quartet, you may recognize the names and faces of John Latham - baritone,
Brian Duplak - tenor, and Terry Reagh - lead, as these three men have spent many years singing in
barbershop quartets prior to Noteworthy. The bass, Ken Broadfoot, is new to barbershop quarteting,
but his strong bass voice makes him a great asset to Noteworthy and gives a firm foundation to the
blend these men are achieving. They have already performed for several birthday parties and seniors'
homes and have experienced their first performance with the Chordsmen's annual show. Noteworthy is
looking forward to a busy year. The enjoyment they are deriving from singing together should keep
Noteworthy active for many years to come.
