CHAPTER QUARTETS
For many members of the Golden Chordsmen Chorus,
quarteting is what it's all about. As a member of a barbershop quartet, you have the
opportunity to sing for a wide variety of audiences, experience venues large and small,
and undertake an incredible musical voyage. Below is a list of our active quartets. Please
feel free to contact them for more information regarding their repertoire, fees and
availability for your event.
TEMPO
2010 QUARTET OF THE YEAR.SEMI-FINALISTS IN THE 2010 and 2009 MANITOBA SENIORS IDOL CONTEST!
This quartet formed in the fall of 2005 to participate in the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen
Christmas Serenade. They enjoyed the sounds of their close harmony, so in January of
2006 registered as TEMPO with the Barbershop Harmony Society. They have been active in
the Winnipeg community, for example: performing for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in their
Blue and Gold Room, for the WGC’s Singing Valentines (a fund raiser in aid of the St. Amant
Center), on Hot 103.1 FM’s Ace Burpee Show, and for the St. Jospeh's Academy Nun's Residence.
They specialize in performing familiar Barbershop tunes at private venues like
anniversaries, weddings and birthday parties, etc. They would welcome the
opportunity to sing at your special occasion. Contact Gordon.
Gordon Sargent (Tenor), Jim Gilroy (Lead), Ted Mikliechuk (Bass), Ron Latourelle (Baritone)
HARLEQUIN
Winnipeg's premier quartet, HARLEQUIN, has been entertaining audiences with
their warm, mellow chords since 1998. Prior to 2010, Harlequin was the Golden Chordsmen's Quartet of the Year for 11 years in a row.
HARLEQUIN actively performs at banquets, dinners, fundraisers, sports events
and celebrations of all kinds. They enjoy singing a variety of musical styles,
including contemporary, patriotic, inspirational, doo-wop, and traditional Barbershop
tunes. Visit their web page at www.harlequin-bsq.com for more information or to arrange a booking.
Rob Smith (Tenor), Larry Hunter (Lead), Herold Driedger (Bass), Paul Bullock (Baritone)
ALL 4 ONE
All 4 One came together in 2009 as part of the Winnipeg Golden Chordsmen's youth outreach program.
Our main purpose was to introduce today's youth to the beautiful sounds of barbershop-style, 4-part harmony.
We love to give in-school demonstrations of barbershop! If pressed (and it doesn't take much pressing), we also sing as
a quartet at Golden Chordsmen functions. We are also interested in performing at your event. For more information about our quartet, contact
Ken at 253-8817 or email.
Duncan Zaluski (tenor), Gordon Billows (lead), Ken Broadfoot (bass), and Ted Greenhalgh (baritone)
